The objective of World Kindness Day is to highlight good deeds in the community focusing on the positive power and the common thread of kindness which binds us. Kindness is a fundamental part of the human condition which bridges the divides of race, religion, politics, gender and zip codes.
This year I advocated Kindness within the Australian Police Force. Sharing many concerns to be addressed in the National Integrity Commission, I called upon the Australian Police Force to sign the World Kindness Movement declaration emailing many members across Australia regarding dehumanization in leadership and the need for a kinder approach to Australian policing especially among socioeconomic disadvantaged demographics.
World Kindness Day is an international observance on 13 November. It was introduced in 1998 by the World Kindness Movement, a coalition of nations' kindness NGOs. It is observed in many countries, including Canada, Australia, Nigeria and United Arab Emirates. Singapore observed the day for the first time in 2009.
